Custom McFarlane Halo Anniversary Spartan Mk VI

So as I said earlier, I decided to give my spare white Mk VI Spartan a new lick of paint. This is what I started with

Standard white and blue Spartan Mk VI armour. Pretty cool in and of itself but as I had one, I wanted to make a different look.

I started my custom by changing him from white to yellow

I then went ahead and painted the metallic blue sections white so that I could then in turn paint them red

I then added some brown paint to the boots so it looked as though he'd been going through terrain. I did this by given the figure a dry brush of brown paint so that it looked like it had been scuffed and dried in. I also put some paint on a tooth brush so that I could give it a spatter effect up over his legs - front and back.

Finally I gave him a wash using Citadel Shade from Games Workshop to give him a dirty worn and weathered look

Overall I'm really happy with how he turned out and I've now got a new Spartan!

Here's a side by side with my vanilla Mk VI

And a couple more close up shots

Hope you liked checking out my custom! I had a lot of fun doing it, even though it was just a simple paint job!

Completed TMNT Custom Figures!

I finished my custom TMNT figures! They're not perfect, but I had fun doing them, and I do think they're better than when I first got them.
So the shells were one of the last things I did. I then put them back together and gave them a black dry brush.
Leonardo's face isn't exactly perfect, nor is Raphael's, and there's some paint where it shouldn't be. In fact, I'm sure I could rip them apart more, but you know what? I wont. I had fun doing these and I think for a first attempt they're not too terrible!! Especially considering they were knockoffs made off really sticky rubbery material.
I'm pretty happy with how the shells came out and I still think the weapons are the best feature seeing as they were just block plastic.
So what do you think? Not perfect, but I still had fun! I don't know if I'll customise many more toys in the future but it really depends on what I find and what I want to do! Let me know what you think! Go Figure!

Custom TMNT Figures: UPDATE

Turns out that customising figures is much harder than I expected, but it's been fun and a good learning experience. I thought I'd share some progress shots. Don't judge me - these are unfinished and it's my first time!
Leonardo and Donatello are a little too similar in colour but overall I'm pretty happy with them. I'm particularly pleased with the weapons, I think they've come out really quite nice. I've got the shells and the belts left to do and I'll be sure to put up the finished pieces, no matter how they come out! Go Figure!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Customs!

So I picked up some knock off TMNT figures for a custom project I want to try. My first custom project in fact! Unfortunately Raphael (my favourite turtle) came broken! I guess that's the risk you run when ordering online!

As you can see, the paint isn't great and the weapons are either block grey or block orange. The shells are also really disappointing, they're just the same green as the turtle that it's attached to.

So the plan is that I'm going to re-paint all these guys to give them a better look... and glue Raph's arm back on.

So step one is taking these guys apart and giving them a wash to make sure they're ready to paint. Next is to try and find the right paint to use. I've been doing some research and I'm going to go to my local hobby/model shop and pick up some acrylic paint and brushes. I'm not going to prime these guys - I'm just going to go ahead and paint!

I'll be sure to update Go Figure! as soon as I make any progress - stay tuned!

If you've ever done anything like this, or if you have any tips and pointers, I'd love to hear from you!

Go Figure!
