Marvel Legends Infinite Series The Allfather Build a Figure Wave Sentry

I had to pick up Sentry as he finishes my Odin BAF with the arms that he comes with! But I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much I like Sentry.

Out of box Sentry is a big solid figure, but not without its flaws. My biggest gripe with it, is the cape. From the front it looks absolutely fine. From behind though...

I really hate that it doesn't match up with the paint and it annoys me that it pegs into the figure's back. The silver lining of course, is that I'll have this guy on display and the chances are I won't have him facing the wall.

I like the paint job on Sentry, I like how bright he is and I really like his eyes and belt; I think they look really good. The sculpt as well is pretty great with some serious musculature on show from this guy and he has the jaw of a hero!

The articulation is what we've seen before on Marvel Legends figures but being such a beefcake, there's not a ton of poses to get Sentry into.

His head is on a ball joint but is a little hindered by his long flowing locks. The shoulders are on a ball and hinge joint, there's a bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, and swivel and pivot at the wrists.

Sentry has an ab crunch but it's difficult to pose him with him bent forward or back due to him being so top heavy. There's a waist joint, hips are on ball joints, thigh cuts, double jointed knees and his ankles swivel, rotate and pivot.

As I mentioned I really like his eyes. They're whited out but have a nice gold outline which really makes them pop.

And his belt is also a really luscious gold, with the S cut nicely into it

Overall I really was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked Sentry and as you need him to finish building Odin, he's a nice addition to this Avengers-centric wave.

DC Collectibles Justice League New 52 Superman

I really like the majority of the DC New 52 costume re-designs and I'm glad I like Superman - he's one of my favourite DC superheroes. So picking up a New 52 Superman from DC Collectibles was a no brainer really, since I've got into more of the DC Collectible stuff - more on that soon...

Out of the box, this is a really nice figure. The real let down is articulation.

The articulation starts out quite well. His head rocks side to side, turns and looks up (a little) and down. The shoulder is on a ball joint but the range of motion here is obstructed because Supes is so buff! He has a bicep swivel, and his elbow bends. Because of the design of his suit, there's no wrist or hand movement at all. Or waist or torso articulation. Superman's legs move forward and back and his knees bend. That's your lot unfortunately.

I guess what Superman lacks in articulation he makes up for in looks.

The face sculpt is really nice, giving him a young optimistic look. I love that DC Collectibles have painted his eyes (nice and neatly too)a nice bright blue. Superman's hair is a nice sculpt too, painted in a nice rich black - no Superman S curl though! Honestly though, I don't miss that. I really like the sculpted lines through his suit making it look like almost like an armour.

The suit is a really nice blue with the iconic red and yellow S shield on his chest. The shield is a good big size too and neatly painted. No red briefs this time on Superman, his undies are on the inside. His belt is red though so that breaks up the blue of his suit until his red boots.

Superman's cape is a soft rubbery plastic that drapes nicely over his shoulders. He has a nice black S shield on his cape too. I really like the design of this cape and think it's translated really well to toy form. The wrinkles are all sculpted really nicely and it looks like it's I motion which is great.

As much as the posing is limited with Superman, he's still a very cool looking figure and I'm really glad to add him to my collection!

So that was my 100th blog post! I have a lot more to come so stay tuned!!

Marvel Select Daredevil

I don't really buy superhero figures, even though I'm a big fan of comics. But today I made an exception. I made a very quick visit to Forbidden Planet this afternoon to pick up the latest issue of Nailbiter (I highly recommend this title!) and while there had a look at the Marvel Select figures by Diamond Select. I'm always drawn to these with their oversized packaging and nice looking figures inside, but I never buy because I'm just not one for hero toys really. But right on the bottom hook, behind an Abomination and a Wolverine, was Daredevil. I love Daredevil. Such a cool character and I love his look, so when I saw that this guy was just sitting there gathering dust, I knew he had to be mine!
As you can see, Daredevil comes in that same Marvel Select oversized blister card packaging, has the name up the side, and a big old DD logo in the bottom left hand corner.
Before taking the figure out the box you can see he comes with a church steeple base and his billy club weapon. He also sports a rather lovely looking paint job, though it doesn't look as though he has much in the way of articulation.
Looking at Daredevil out of his packaging, I'm really impressed. It's a solid figure with a really nice sculpt and paint work. Articulation isn't bad though it could be better seeing as it's Daredevil and he's super acrobatic but never mind!
I really like the different reds used on DD, giving him some nice shading and showing his belt, boots, gloves and billy club holster. And I love the mask! The fact that you can see the little eye covers just looks great.
Accessories wise DD comes with his billy club weapon, which sadly doesn't fit into his holster (that's just sculpted and moulded onto his leg) and instead of a piece of string in between clubs it's a piece of soft bendy plastic. It's not bad, but it would have been nice to be able to move the club more. The other accessory is the base which is a church steeple.
This is a really nice piece with nicely sculpted details and is a great looking base for Daredevil to be posed on.
All in I'm really digging this Daredevil figure and I'd definitely be interested in picking up more Marvel Select figures if it was the right character.
Any recommendations on any Marvel Select figures I should be on the look out for? I'm already kind of tempted by Deadpool and Wolverine in his brown/yellow suit! Go Figure!
