The Simpsons Lego Series 1 Blind Bag Minifigures

So just a super quick post as I just grabbed one bag the other day and as I only have two of the series 1 minifigs at the moment I figured my chances would be ok. And thankfully, they were!

I got me a Milhouse van Houten! Excellent. He even comes with a copy of Biclops comic - us glasses wearers have got to stick together! I seem to be really be filling out Springfield Elementary what with all the kids I've got from these blind bags so far!

Lego Series 13 Blind Bag Minifigures

Over the past couple of days I've picked up 5 blind bags of Series 13 Lego minifigs. I gave the initial few I got a good few months ago to my nephew as he's a big Lego fan, so I lost the joiner, space trooper and snake charmer. So I was looking to replenish this wave for me.

So first up was:

The awesome space trooper with different face prints on each side of his head. Really glad to have him back. He has an air of Halo about him which I dig.

Secondly I pulled

Aw come on!!

OK. Third...

Another hot dog guy double.. Annoying!

Fourth must be better...

Not cool. That's another double for me - the disco diva.

So far, 1 from 4. That's an incredibly poor ratio. Let's hope for something a little better for my fifth and final bag.

Fantastic! The archaeologist! 2 things: I always wanted to be an archaeologist when I was a kid, and secondly, it's excellent to see women represented by Lego in such cool jobs!

I only need a few more to complete this wave, but I might have to go to eBay if I really want them, that way there's no chance of doubles!!

Lego The Simpsons Series 2 Blind Bag Minifigures

So I went out for a sandwich for my lunch and, as I'm incredibly weak willed, I grabbed another 2 packs of The Simpsons Lego series 2 blind bags. I was hoping my luck would continue with two new figures. I should be so lucky...

Another Martin! Didn't even bother building him, no point at all! Still a great minifigure though.

I was very happy with the second figure though:

Comic Book Guy! Really happy with this minifigure, but you know my very favourite part? The little moulded Squishee cup. I love how the lid is a small see though piece with a little straw. It looks perfect!

The sour that goes with this sweetness though? It's being reported that Harry Shearer - the voice of Ned Flanders, Kent Brockman, Principal Skinner, Mr Burns, Smithers, Lenny, Otto, Dr Hibbert among many more - is leaving The Simpsons. Personally I don't think the show will function nearly as well without him, but I guess we'll see, as no doubt the will plow on and continue making the show.

Batman Arkham Knight Scarecrow

I spotted this Scarecrow figure in Forbidden Planet, passed on it, but eventually caved and returned to pick him up. This is from DC Collectibles and is sculpted by Gentle Giant. The others in this first wave are Batman, Harley Quinn, Arkham Knight (who is released later this year) and, if you live in the USA you're lucky enough to also be able to pick up Red Hood from GameStop.

I loved Arkham Asylum (apart from the final Joker battle. It was fine, but a bit weird). I really didn't enjoy Arkham City, for me the open world took a lot away from what made Asylum so good.

Funny story about City: I traded in City as I, foolishly, bought it brand new. The guy at the store said (without a hint of humour or sarcasm) "didn't you love this game?! Swinging through city made you feel just like Spider-Man!" I just looked at him for a few long seconds and said "I bought it to feel like Batman though". He stared at me and said nothing. I don't think he fully understood what had just happened.

I didn't even buy Origins. But Knight is looking pretty good, and if these figures are anything to go by, I have higher hopes.

In packaging I loved the look of this figure. I loved the detailing, the sculpt work, and the overall look of Scarecrow - I was ready to be disappointed when he was out the box.

The only problem I initially had with this figure was the fact that I couldn't get this guy to stand! But after a while I got him to stand on his own wch, for me, made this figure even better.

Scarecrow comes with a brilliantly creepy mask which, I'm going to assume, is what his goons will wear in game. Pure speculation on my part though.

Articulation on Scarecrow is really pretty good. Firstly (and this is great!) Scarecrow's hood is attached to his head so it doesn't really hinder the neck movement which includes side to side and a little bit of tilt. The shoulders move up a little, my Scarecrow can't get his arms to 90 degrees, there's a bicep swivel, elbow bend and his hands turn 360 degrees.

Scarecrow has waist rotation, his hips move out, there's a thigh cut that rotates, single jointed knees and the feet move up and down at the ankles.

So there's not bucket loads of articulation but there's a good amount and the sculpted details and paint work really make this guy worth your money.

From the front, Scarecrow has fingerless gloves on both hands, and his right hand has his fear toxin injecting needles on the back. The detailing in the wrist piece is excellent too and painted with a nice metallic dirty grey. He's also wearing a knee brace - either he loves Stone Cold Steve Austin or he had a bad time being left alone with Killer Croc.

You can also see all of his extra vials of fear toxin (or blood?) on his chest and shoulders with pipes leading all around his torso, along with stitches, belts, buckles and pouches. And a personal favourite of mine: his boots are untied and the tongue of his right boot is hanging down.

From behind there's not quite as much going on, but it's still very cool. There are oxygen tanks which feed a pipe under his left shoulder and go straight into his mask. The tanks are nicely detailed and pained with very neat silvers and greys, you can see all the stitches in his hood and down his coat and you can see the split in his coat too.

Lastly, I just want to pint out how absolutely great Scarecrow's mask is. It's creepy, brilliantly sculpted and painted, and conveys a lot of character.

I would highly recommend this figure if you're into the games or you just collect figures from the Bat books. Here in the UK you should be able to get him sub £20 and I really do think he's worth every penny. He's creepy and sinister looking and I'm really happy to have him added to my Bat collection.

The Simpsons Lego Series 2 Blind Bags

Another 4 bags of Lego Simpsons series 2! #prayfornodoubles

Ok firstly...

Homer on date night! Woo hoo!

Secondly

Another Simpson - my favourite Simpson! Maggie and Santos L Halper! Sorry, Santa's Little Helper

Next up

Waylon Smithers! with a box with a Malibu Barbie that comes with a brand new hat!! As a toy collector I sympathise with Smithers. And hey, still no doubles. If this luck keeps up then I'll pretty much have no more luck left for this year...

Holy wow!! No doubles! Martin with his incredibly pretentious book! I love this figure, I think Smithers and Martin are my favourite so far.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick up more!

The Simpsons Lego Series One Blind Bags

I have had trouble tracking down any of the first series of the Lego Simpsons blind bags, but I found some while I was out the other day so I picked a couple up.

This first series includes:

Homer with TV remote and donut
Bart with skateboard
Marge with purse and a copy of Donut Fancy
Lisa with saxophone
Maggie with Bobo the bear
Grandpa with a copy of the Springfield Shopper
Ned Flanders with an "I love south paws" mug and his tool box with sticker "Property of Ned Flanders" on it
Krusty the clown with cream pie
Milhouse with a copy of "Biclops" comic
Ralph with his "I choo choo choose you" Valentine card
Apu with Squishee cup
Nelson Muntz with baseball bat
Itchy with club
Scratchy with axe
Chief Wiggum with megaphone and truncheon
Mr Burns with Blinky the fish and a rod of plutonium

I don't actually have any of the first series of Simpsons Lego figures so whatever I pulled I was good with me!

First up I got

Nelson with his (vaguely sinister) baseball bat!!

and secondly I pulled

Krusty and his hilarious pie!!

Happy with these guys and I'll be on the look out for more!

The Simpsons Lego Series 2 Blind Bags

As I was shopping the other day I popped into the toy section (as I always do) and spotted the series 2 blind bags of The Simpsons Lego were on shelves, so I scooped three bags, got home, and ripped them open. Let's take a look at the line-up for this wave:

Homer with box of chocolates
Marge with flowers and purse
Lisa with Snowball II
Maggie with Santa's Little Helper
Bart as Bartman
Millhouse as Fallout Boy
Comic Book Guy
Martin Prince with a book
Professor Frink
Hans Moleman
Patty
Selma
Groundskeeper Willie
Mrs Krabapple
Smithers
Dr Hibbert

So a nice big selection and as these were my first 3 bags, I was confident I wouldn't pull a double. Out of this list I would really like Bartman, Fallout Boy, Comic Book Guy, Professor Frink, Hans Moleman and Groundskeeper Willie, but as it's The Simpsons, none of the wave would really disappoint.

So I opened my first bag and found...

Lisa! Really happy with the Snowball II sculpt even without any articulation and it's nice to get a Lisa in a different colour of dress.

Second up I got

Hans Moleman! Now not only is this sculpt superb and hilariously accurate, but he even comes with his drivers license, which has been stamped void at the DMV by Selma!

I love it!

And in my third bag?

Everybody do the Bartman!!

Very happy with this haul, great looking minifigures and when I get the chance I'll be picking up more - and of course I'll let you all know how I get on!
