Marvel Legends Infinite Series Allfather Wave Build a Figure Iron Fist

Next up in the Marvel Legends Allfather BAF wave we'll be looking at Iron Fist, and the BAF piece that he comes with is Odin's other leg.

Iron Fist also gets an accessory. Actually, he gets EIGHT accessories - all of which are different hands.

You get two closed fists, two karate chop hands, two gripping hands, and two kung fu looking hands (I have no idea what these could be called).

Straight out of the box Iron Fist looks amazing and is definitely one of my favourite figures in this wave.

The paint is nice and clean over this figure. The mostly white suit has a nice light blue wash to it, his head, feet and wrists are a rich gold colour. There's also a gold sash and bandana tie. The last piece of gold paint is his dragon insignia on his chest which is very neatly applied. The black eye outlines are also cleanly applied and there are small silver highlights to show his eyes.

The worst part of this figure is that Hasbro are still insisting on printing the serial number on the back of the figure's thigh, which is annoyingly obvious on this WHITE figure!

Articulation wise, Iron Fist's head has a ball and hinge allowing it to rotate and look up and down. The shoulders have those a butterfly style armpit joint, the shoulders are then attached to this via a ball and hinge giving a good range of motion, double jointed elbows, and swivel and hinged wrists.

Iron Fist has a torso crunch, waist swivel, thighs are ball and hinged and have a rotation. Double jointed knees, ankles swivel and pivot.

And you can get some very cool fighting poses from this figure.

This was the first figure in this wave that I picked up, despite knowing very little about Iron Fist, but even in packaging I thought this figure looked great.

I'd absolutely recommend Iron Fist - you need him to complete Odin or King Thor, but even apart from that, you're getting a lot for your money with an excellent figure and a ton of interchangeable hands.

Marvel Legends Infinite Series Build a Figure Allfather Wave Thor

Recently I've picked up the new Allfather BAF wave from Hasbro, well the figures I've wanted*, so I thought I'd get round to reviewing them!

In this wave you can get:

Iron Fist
Machine Man (not picking up this guy...)
Thor
Sentry
Hawkeye
Captain Marvel (*I actually don't have Captain Marvel, though I do want to pick her up)
Scarlet Witch

Once collected, if you pick them all up, you can build Odin or King Thor. As a fan of the Allfather I've picked up who I need to build Odin and I won't be looking to put King Thor together.

I thought I'd start off by looking at the Odinson himself, Thor.

He comes with the right leg of Odin

A big bad ass He-Man looking sword - which is moulded in a solid light grey with brown handle. A little paint variation and weathering on this sword would have been appreciated

And, of course, Mjolnir

The weathering effects and moulding of Mjolnir is excellent, though I do wish there was a little paint variation on her handle.

Thor himself is a beast of a figure standing over 7" tall

The paint on Thor is really clean with some nice details in parts. His helmet is a nice silver with a piece of cloth coming down the back, he has some of his dirty blonde hair coming down at the sides - his blue eyes are painted nicely under the rim of his helmet.

is torso is a dark black colour with a neat brown strap running over is front with a small painted silver buckle. There is lighter blue piping running around the edges of his suit - again very neatly painted. His belt is the same brown as the strap and also has some silver detailing. This same look carries over to his boots. The silver armour down Thor's legs look brilliant - nicely sculpted and done in a really shiny silver.

The dirty worn silver buckles holding his cape on are a cool detail, especially that the cape also has some lovely shading effects.

Articulation on this figure is pretty good, but hindered in quite a few places.

Firstly, Thor can only look side to side a little due to the hair and helmet. He can't look up or down at all. His shoulders are on a ball and hinge joint but because of his cape he can only move them up until it stops them, and they can't really rotate back because of this too. He has a bicep swivel, elbow joint, and wrist swivel and bend.

Thor has an ab crunch (he can't crunch backwards due to the cape) which also swivels. Hips are on a ball and hinge but are pretty restricted due to his tunic. Double jointed knees, ankle swivel and pivot. Well, his ankles would pivot if it weren't for the small armour discs right on his ankles rendering the pivot completely un-useable.

thankfully Thor is capable of holding both of his weapons well, although I'm not at all sure why he came with a sword. It does slip nicely into his belt under his cape though, which, I think, gives quite a cool look.

Overall, despite the flaws in this figures articulation, I really like Thor. I think he looks great, he's big, you get a lot for your money, the Mjolnir is a great looking piece and is in good scale with Thor himself, and he looks great beside other Legends.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Stockman-Fly

We're finally able to pick this new figure up in the UK - I ordered mine online, but I have seen this figure in my local Smyths toy store. I really liked how much build up Stockman got before finally being mutated into a fly and the mutation scene in the show was pretty great itself!

Stockman-Fly comes with the one accessory in his chocolate bar. It's sculpted in a chocolate brown plastic that has "choc" and "log" sculpted onto it, as well as some wrapper and a bite taken from it. It's a nice little piece and goes with the character.

I'll immediately get into the biggest flaw in this figure: the articulation. As usual, the basic range of Playmates' TMNT figures that aren't turtles get a minimum amount of articulation. Stockman's head is on a ball joint, his shoulders are on a ball and hinge, as are his wings, his waist swivels, and his hips swivel his legs back and forth and outwards... and that's your lot. No elbow, wrist, knee, or ankle articulation at all. A bit poor but this is a great looking figure and one of the better looking villain figs from this line.

The paint is good on this figure, but again a little lacking in places. Stockman's skin is a brown and he's wearing his pink sweater, blue jeans and tan shoes. There's black paint on his sculpted tuft of hair that's left on his head, and his wings are really nicely sculpted in a translucent green plastic. The barbs that are sticking out of his clothes are the main annoyance on the body. These would have looked great with just a small application of brown paint.

The real highlight of the paint and sculpt on this figure though are Stockman's big bug eyes that are moulded in that great translucent green plastic that his wings are done in, but then painted in a shiny metallic green that really make them pop.

There are aspects of this figure that, if corrected, would make it into an excellent piece. But sadly Playmates - to save money - won't be able to change these practices. Conversely though, these figures are kept at a pretty reasonable price and here in the UK I'm sure Smyths are selling some of their older TMNT stock off with a 25% discount, so if you're missing some characters, it might be worth a look in!

Overall I'd say this is one of the better villain figures we've got from this line and I'd recommend him for collectors of this line or kids that are into the show!

Custom McFarlane Halo Anniversary Spartan Mk VI

So as I said earlier, I decided to give my spare white Mk VI Spartan a new lick of paint. This is what I started with

Standard white and blue Spartan Mk VI armour. Pretty cool in and of itself but as I had one, I wanted to make a different look.

I started my custom by changing him from white to yellow

I then went ahead and painted the metallic blue sections white so that I could then in turn paint them red

I then added some brown paint to the boots so it looked as though he'd been going through terrain. I did this by given the figure a dry brush of brown paint so that it looked like it had been scuffed and dried in. I also put some paint on a tooth brush so that I could give it a spatter effect up over his legs - front and back.

Finally I gave him a wash using Citadel Shade from Games Workshop to give him a dirty worn and weathered look

Overall I'm really happy with how he turned out and I've now got a new Spartan!

Here's a side by side with my vanilla Mk VI

And a couple more close up shots

Hope you liked checking out my custom! I had a lot of fun doing it, even though it was just a simple paint job!
