Custom TMNT Figures: UPDATE
Turns out that customising figures is much harder than I expected, but it's been fun and a good learning experience. I thought I'd share some progress shots. Don't judge me - these are unfinished and it's my first time!
Leonardo and Donatello are a little too similar in colour but overall I'm pretty happy with them. I'm particularly pleased with the weapons, I think they've come out really quite nice. I've got the shells and the belts left to do and I'll be sure to put up the finished pieces, no matter how they come out! Go Figure!

Star Wars Black Series Wave 4 Update!
Remember that sweet Shadow Squadron set that's coming from Hasbro? This one?
Well it's available as a pre-order in the UK now from Forbidden Planet. It's £49.99 so a little pricey, but it's such a nice set! I will be sorely tempted by this bad boy... Go Figure!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Movie Figures
Here in the UK we need to wait until October before we get to see the new Turtles on the big screen (whether you like it or not). But we should be getting access to the toys much sooner! You can pre-order these from Forbidden Planet but it looks as though you can go ahead and grab them now from sellers on Amazon and eBay. Here are the 4 most bodacious brothers, brought to us from Playmates!
I'll be picking up the main 4 for sure, and I could be tempted by Shredder (because really, they need their arch nemesis!). But really, The Shredder doesn't look too hot in toy form...
If I can find him in store though, then I'll be able to have a better look at him and make up my mind then. I'll be sure to post my thoughts of them here once I have them! Go Figure!

Star Wars Black Series Wave 4
Wave 4 of Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series have been unveiled, and this bad boy is a personal favourite!
Bossk! Lizard bounty hunter that mocks your need for shoes!
Others include Han with tauntaun in Hoth gear, Luke in Hoth gear with Wampa, Clone Trooper Lieutenant, Han (again) in stormtrooper gear, and Tie Fighter Pilot.
These are all really nice, but not sure if I'll be adding any of these to my collection (other than Bossk, and maybe that clone. I've always liked the look of their armour). I can only imagine that Han with tauntaun and Luke with Wampa will be VERY expensive.
The Imperial Shadow Squadron is a Target exclusive over in the states so I've no idea where we'll be able to pick this up in the UK (probably Amazon), but this is a very nice set.
Good luck hunting these guys down if you like to collect all of the Black Series! Go Figure!

Star Wars Black Series Han Solo
Hasbro's second wave of 6" Star Wars figures brought us everyone's favourite scruffy looking nerf herder, Han Solo!
Han comes with 2 sets of hands, one in flight gloves (my personal favourite), his trusty blaster, a Stormtrooper rifle, a Stormtrooper belt, and his classic leather belt.
Look at how sophisticated he can be!
The paint work is excellent on Han, and it really is a great likeness to Harrison Ford. The articulation is, as expected from the Black Series, excellent. This make posing Han easy as there's no balance issues, and you can get some nice poses out of him.
You wouldn't have thought that Han would be that difficult to get right, but Hasbro have really nailed it with the little details, such as the red on his trousers or the brown leather look to his belt with silver buckle. The Black Series really are some classy toys. Great paint, articulation and likenesses to characters.
Stay tuned for my thoughts on the Sandtrooper figure, and Boba Fett! And in the very near future I'll be looking at different properties from Funko, Neca and more! Go Figure!

NECA NES Batman
I'm a big fan of the 7" NES inspired figures that NECA started with the amazing San Diego Comic Con exclusive Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, so I'm super happy to see another amazing character get added to this collection! Michael Keaton from Tim Burton's Batman!
Just freaking look at him!! I completely love those crazy colours that are taken right out of the 8-bit NES game. He comes complete with grapnel gun and batarang, and his cloth cape is removable. I can't wait to add him to my NECA NES collection - stay tuned for more on those! Go Figure!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Customs!
So I picked up some knock off TMNT figures for a custom project I want to try. My first custom project in fact! Unfortunately Raphael (my favourite turtle) came broken! I guess that's the risk you run when ordering online!
As you can see, the paint isn't great and the weapons are either block grey or block orange. The shells are also really disappointing, they're just the same green as the turtle that it's attached to.
So the plan is that I'm going to re-paint all these guys to give them a better look... and glue Raph's arm back on.
So step one is taking these guys apart and giving them a wash to make sure they're ready to paint. Next is to try and find the right paint to use. I've been doing some research and I'm going to go to my local hobby/model shop and pick up some acrylic paint and brushes. I'm not going to prime these guys - I'm just going to go ahead and paint!
I'll be sure to update Go Figure! as soon as I make any progress - stay tuned!
If you've ever done anything like this, or if you have any tips and pointers, I'd love to hear from you!

Star Wars Black Series Darth Maul
I thought I'd stick with Star Wars and check out one of the coolest Sith in the galaxy - Darth Maul!
Again, the Hasbro Star Wars Black Series shows why they're the top line in Star Wars toys. Darth Maul is another in the first wave of 6 inch Black Series figures and is another great toy.
I mean the paint job on Maul's face alone is worth the price of admission here. Especially as he comes with two heads!
The first head has his cloak over it and that's made of a kind of soft rubber which also has holes in it that his arms go through. The head pops off of the ball joint that it's on and can be replaced with the non-cloaked version. This shows off Maul's horned head and more of that lovely paint job, but also means that you can move his arms round more and get some very cool poses.
Accessories wise, Darth Maul comes with an interchangeable head, his Sith binoculars, and of course his double bladed lightsaber. Like Luke's lightsaber, the blades come free of the hilt and it even splits in two, meaning he can have one in each hand.
And of course I'd make him fight a Jedi!! Who'd win though?
The detail in these figures, even on a figure as simple as Maul is very nice. Obviously the paint job on his head and face is excellent though there are a couple of more pieces of note. A small piece of his cloak at his waist is fabric which looks great and sits nicely over his legs. The paint on his binoculars is neat but the moulding of the lightsaber and the small pieces of paint on it really show it as Maul's weapon.
So yeah, if you love Star Wars the Black Series are the toys for you. Go Figure!

Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker
The hero of the Rebellion! Luke Skywalker, the last of the Jedi (kind of)! I know the Black Series have been around for a while, but hey, they're awesome, so I'm going to talk about them.
The Black Series figures from Hasbro are pretty much the Star Wars toys I've been waiting for. I mean look at Luke!
6 inches and fully articulated, the Black Series figures are just superb. The first Luke in the series comes in his flight suit, ready to pilot his X-Wing for the Rebellion against the evil Empire . The flight suit is brilliantly painted with neat detailing on the chest area, and the head sculpt is a great likeness to Mark Hamill.
For me though, the real highlight of this particular figure is the accessories. Luke comes with signature blaster, flight helmet - which has a brilliantly weathered, almost battle damage look to it, is movie accurate with the insignia painted on and is a good fit - and of course, his lightsaber. The really nice thing about the lightsaber is that the blade is removable meaning it can hang on his belt, which I personally think is a stroke of genius on Hasbro's part and looks bad ass. You can of course have the blade attached and have Luke ready for a fight!
The articulation on this figure means that you can get him in some nice poses, and he stands really well, no real balance issues that I found.
All in, I'd say if you're a Star Wars and toy fan, these are a must.
Stay tuned for more Hasbro Star Wars Black Series figures! Go Figure!
All photos taken by my very good friend Fezbongo, you should absolutely go check out his Tumblr!
Go Figure! One mans love for toys old and new!
I've never blogged before. Never really known how or where to start. What I do know though, is how much I love toys. And I want to share that love.
I've loved toys for as long as I can remember. I was born in 1984, the height of the plastic toy extravaganza! Growing up in the 80's and 90's when you had such greats as He-Man, ThunderCats, Transformers and Visionaries, among many, many others, is really how my love of toys grew. These cartoons were just adverts for kids like me and I ate them up. However none of them could come close to my first real love, which came in the form of a team of anthropomorphic amphibians. The Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (ninja was considered too violent a word here in the UK) was my first obsession and I had a LOT of the original Turtles toys. Sadly however, as is so often the case, time brought me to an age where I was considered too old to have toys and I thought I was too cool to keep them (I've never been cool by the way) and they were donated to various charity shops.
I'm an adult now (that's not to say I'm grown up...) and I can collect any toys I want - this is where the blog comes in you see - I'm going to feature my toys here and write about them! I really don't know if anyone wants to read about toys (I know YouTube is a popular place for reviews) but Go Figure! isn't so much about reviews. It's more about my thoughts on toys, where I am with my collection, and where I've found stuff. Expect to see TMNT, Aliens, Star Wars, pretty much anything horror related, cartoons, movies and much more! I won't be sticking exclusively to new releases either, Go Figure! really will just be talk about toys that I've bought and if I think they're any good! I'd really love input from you out there in the world too, if you love toys, or if you know where to find them, or if you agree or disagree with my thoughts on toys please let me know, I'm only one man! If we all love toys and different toys then we need to chat about it!
Cheers everyone! Enjoy!
