DC Total Heroes Bizarro

A good friend of mine kindly bought me my first Total Heroes figure for my Christmas in the form of Bizarro. I was aware of this line but never thought of really looking into it, but seriously this is an excellent figure and I'm very glad to add it to my collection.

The other figures available in this wave, that you can see on the back of the packaging, are Hal Jordan Green Lantern, Mr Freeze, and Detective Batman. There's also a write up on Bizarro on the back of the box.

You know the weirdest thing about the packaging though? The fact that there's air holes in the side.

Why does my toy need to breathe?! Weird.

Out of the box though, and this is a great looking toy!

I really like the sculpt on this guy, especially his head - I love the flat top! It's a really Frankenstein's Monster look it's got going on and it really works for this character.

The sculpt overall is really neat, with his big square face, sculpted muscles and big hands. There are some nice sculpted details throughout the suit too, including his belt and lines over the suit and his boots. There are also wrinkles/scars sculpted into his hands and face which is a nice touch.

The paint apps are very clean, especially at his neck and the colours look great. Bizarro has a nice dark blue suit with purple accents and dark yellows and of course his jet black hair. These all contrast brilliantly against his bright white skin tone and his burning red eyes. And that inverse Superman shield is so cool!

I particularly like the fact that Bizarro has been given a cloth cape. I think that works really well with this figure and it sits very nicely over his back.

Bizarro's articulation is ok, but if this was specifically for a kid then it's plenty: His head... well that doesn't really move at all to be honest. But he does have ball and hinge joints in his shoulders, a bend at the elbow and his wrists swivel. No waist swivel or ab crunch, his legs move forward a little, not back, and they can go right out at his side. His ankles move up and down but no swivel or pivot.

If I can find the Total Heroes Superman at a good price I'd certainly be interested in picking him up to pit against Bizarro here, but if you're a fan of DC toys then these are a fun new selection of toys for sure.

Funko Mystery Minis Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

My sister gave me a new Funko Mystery Mini TMNT figure for Christmas, and really out of all of the characters I could get I would have been happy with any of them

Apart from maybe the Foot Soldier... But really, these things are great.

Just like all the Mystery Mini figs this comes in a black bag so you can't see the figure you get.

And I was delighted with who I got - one of my favourite TMNT characters ever!

Casey Jones! Aw yeah!

This is a really nicely sculpted, well painted and detailed figure. He's holding his bat (probably a Jose Conseco bat, hope he didn't pay money for that) and is wearing his hockey mask.

The paint is really nice on this guy with neat paint apps on his mask especially. I love that these mini figs are based on the 80's/90's TMNT cartoon, the 'toon I grew up with, so I'll definitely be looking for more of these soon.

Breaking Bad Funko Pop Gus Fring Number 167

Spoilers for Breaking Bad ahead - you have been warned!

I was lucky enough to be gifted a new Funko Pop for my collection by a friend for Christmas this year - a Pop from my favourite TV series no less! Gus Fring from Breaking Bad is such a great character and this version of Gus is after he'd been exploded, which gives this figure some great detail.

There are several other Breaking Bad Pop's available in this line - they're listed on the back of the packaging for Gus in fact, ain't that handy!

Gus is a great little figure. If you've ever picked up a Funko Pop in the past, you'll know what to expect: a super stylized figure which has limited articulation - kept to the neck letting the head swivel side to side.

Gus is wearing a sharp blue suit, which has been spoiled a little with blood stains (he wouldn't like that), and black shirt and tie and black shoes. The paint apps are kept to a minimum on the figure apart from on the face but the sculpting is really solid throughout, with buttons and pockets on the jacket and good details in his face.

Gus looks gruesome and bloodied after his "accident" in the retirement home and there's a nice few colours used to highlight the blood, muscle and burnt flesh in Gus' face.

I really like this figure, it's a fun representation of one of the coolest Breaking Bad characters (I'm not saying violence or cooking meth is cool, but Gus was so damn suave!) and I'm happy to have a Breaking Bad figure added to my collection.

McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief

Picked up my first McFarlane figure in this Master Chief figure. I love the Halo series, so having a fully articulated Master Chief based on his look in Halo 2 at such a nice price was a no brainer! This figure was a little over a tenner from Forbidden Planet and it's an excellent toy for such a low price.

Along with this Master Chief, in the same wave McFarlane has released a Halo 5 MC with cloak - you can see him on the back of the packaging

I also picked him up - at that price I couldn't pass him up! I'll review him in the near future.

Let's have a look at the accessories first. Master Chief comes with 2 covenant blasters

These are nicely sculpted and really nicely painted with red, yellow, gun metal and blue.

He comes with a rifle

Again, nicely sculpted in a black and gun metal grey, this also comes with a small peg that can be removed. This is for attaching it to the Chief for storage

Master Chief also comes with a grenade

And 2 sub machine guns

These guns again have the pegs for storage. Master Chief is armed to the teeth!

Master Chief himself is a great looking piece with a nice dark metallic green colour scheme with scuffs, blacks, silvers and an amazing shiny gold visor. Chief is really game accurate, McFarlane nailed the look of the Spartan hero.

Chief holds all his guns nicely, other than the blaster rifle, simply because there's not much of a handle. I couldn't really get him holding the grenade either sadly, but it sits nicely on his back.

John 117's head turns and moves down - but not up. He has a ratchet joint at the shoulder which moves up and down and it can move back and forward. There's a swivel and bend at the elbow and wrist.

There's a great torso crunch and swivel, the hips move in and out, and there's a thigh cut. His knees bend 90 degrees and there are ratcheted ball joints in the ankle and toe articulation giving the Chief overall some excellent articulation.

If you're into Halo I'd recommend picking this guy up and I'm really looking forward to checking out the cloaked Chief from Halo 5. I'd definitely be interested in adding to these Halo figures in the future if they're all as cool as this one.

Transformers Deluxe High Octane Bumblebee

I don't own any Transformers, I'm not a Transformers collector at all, but I really liked the look of Bumblebee in the black and orange colour scheme rather than his normal yellow. And this is the colour scheme Hasbro chose as this is no normal Bumblebee, this is High Octane Bumblebee!

When Bumblebee is in robot mode, he is mostly orange looking, with black highlights. When he's in car mode, he's mostly black with orange highlights.

Articulation is good, but I guess it's mostly due to the fact that Bumblebee is a Transformer and has to move a fair bit anyway! I don't really know what to say about Bumblebee's articulation... I mean, his head moves left and right and up and down a little, he has shoulder and elbow joints, hip and knee joints and ankle articulation. He also comes with a bolt that shoots from his right wrist.

I do like Bumblebee in his robot mode, but I prefer him in his car mode. The black and orange muscle car look is just bad ass!

He rolls nicely in car mode, his arms, legs and feet tuck nicely away under his body and the bolt is kept under there at as well.

I like this guy, he's a fun robot and a very cool looking car. I might be tempted to pick up a Dinobot in the future, again, just out of coolness. Dinosaur robots are cool.
