Marvel Select Daredevil

I don't really buy superhero figures, even though I'm a big fan of comics. But today I made an exception. I made a very quick visit to Forbidden Planet this afternoon to pick up the latest issue of Nailbiter (I highly recommend this title!) and while there had a look at the Marvel Select figures by Diamond Select. I'm always drawn to these with their oversized packaging and nice looking figures inside, but I never buy because I'm just not one for hero toys really. But right on the bottom hook, behind an Abomination and a Wolverine, was Daredevil. I love Daredevil. Such a cool character and I love his look, so when I saw that this guy was just sitting there gathering dust, I knew he had to be mine!
As you can see, Daredevil comes in that same Marvel Select oversized blister card packaging, has the name up the side, and a big old DD logo in the bottom left hand corner.
Before taking the figure out the box you can see he comes with a church steeple base and his billy club weapon. He also sports a rather lovely looking paint job, though it doesn't look as though he has much in the way of articulation.
Looking at Daredevil out of his packaging, I'm really impressed. It's a solid figure with a really nice sculpt and paint work. Articulation isn't bad though it could be better seeing as it's Daredevil and he's super acrobatic but never mind!
I really like the different reds used on DD, giving him some nice shading and showing his belt, boots, gloves and billy club holster. And I love the mask! The fact that you can see the little eye covers just looks great.
Accessories wise DD comes with his billy club weapon, which sadly doesn't fit into his holster (that's just sculpted and moulded onto his leg) and instead of a piece of string in between clubs it's a piece of soft bendy plastic. It's not bad, but it would have been nice to be able to move the club more. The other accessory is the base which is a church steeple.
This is a really nice piece with nicely sculpted details and is a great looking base for Daredevil to be posed on.
All in I'm really digging this Daredevil figure and I'd definitely be interested in picking up more Marvel Select figures if it was the right character.
Any recommendations on any Marvel Select figures I should be on the look out for? I'm already kind of tempted by Deadpool and Wolverine in his brown/yellow suit! Go Figure!

Jakks Pacific Nintendo Figures

Jakks Pacific are releasing a set of articulated Nintendo figures! Mario, Yoshi, Link, Bowser and Donkey Kong are all on their way - though I don't know when, or if, to the UK. Mario, Link and Yoshi all come in the 4" scale
Whereas Bowser and DK are 6"
I like the look of these a lot, and for the right price I'll definitely be picking up Link and probably Bowser too! Go Figure!

First 2014 Movie TMNT Figure!

Just a quick post to say I got my first TMNT 2014 movie figure. I haven't seen any of these guys in stores at all yet so I had to get him off of eBay, but still, Raphael!!
I have to say, I'm a big fan of this figure so far, though I've yet to take it out of the packaging, I think he looks very cool. I'll be unpacking him soon though, and as soon as I do I'll do more of a write up!
Go Figure!

TMNT Finds!

I was delighted to kick my Nickelodeon TMNT collection into gear with these finds. I've been impressed with the look of the Battle Shell figures that Playmates released due to the cartoon accurate look of them. So I picked up Leonardo first.
The fact that the shell opens and stores extra weapons absolutely appeals to the vintage TMNT toy fan inside me. And the look on Leo's face is great too! I had to pick up Shredder when I saw him. Look at how great he looks!!
I love the retro purple cape and the fact that his helmet is removable is a master stroke. I love the sculpt of the figure too. Again, it's good and cartoon accurate so matches nicely with the Battle Shell brothers.
And lastly I picked up the 2 Ninjas in Training packs that include all 4 turtles as kids in training! I just LOVE the look of these and the fact that you get 2 in each pack sold me on them.
The different colours, weapons and faces and just brilliant on these little guys! Stay tuned as I'll be opening these up soon and I'll show them off more then. Go Figure!

Weekend Blind Bag Finds!

Firstly, only 2 of these 3 are blind bags. So I kind of lied. Forgive me. Or not, whatever.
I've quite a few of those Character Building Monster vs Zombies mini figures, but I love a mini figure, horror, and a blind bag, so how could I refuse?! I got the swamp monster, who I think I already have (I packed my others away a while ago), but I'm digging the display box.
The Transformer I got was the Autobot Jetwash. Here he is in plane mode... which looks a bit crap really.
And here he is standing. Much better!
But I'm totally loving this little Halo ODST metallic figure! So cool!
I love the look of the little figure and the fact it comes in a colour co-ordinated drop pod is superb!! A nice few finds I made in Tesco all for under a tenner. If I'd known how nice those little Halo figures were I would have just got a couple of those! Go Figure!

Completed TMNT Custom Figures!

I finished my custom TMNT figures! They're not perfect, but I had fun doing them, and I do think they're better than when I first got them.
So the shells were one of the last things I did. I then put them back together and gave them a black dry brush.
Leonardo's face isn't exactly perfect, nor is Raphael's, and there's some paint where it shouldn't be. In fact, I'm sure I could rip them apart more, but you know what? I wont. I had fun doing these and I think for a first attempt they're not too terrible!! Especially considering they were knockoffs made off really sticky rubbery material.
I'm pretty happy with how the shells came out and I still think the weapons are the best feature seeing as they were just block plastic.
So what do you think? Not perfect, but I still had fun! I don't know if I'll customise many more toys in the future but it really depends on what I find and what I want to do! Let me know what you think! Go Figure!

ReAction Super 7 X Funko Alien Figures

I'm a MASSIVE Alien fan. I'm a huge fan of the whole original trilogy. I can even watch Alien Resurrection, and I actually LIKE Prometheus. I know, I'm weird. But Alien and Aliens are really where it's at for me. And as such, I love pretty much any Alien toy, and the Super 7 X Funko ReAction figures are no exception. As it stands I only have 2 of the 5 available: the xenomorph and Kane in Nostromo space suit.
I'll definitely be picking up the rest of the set in the future: the hero, Ripley; Ash the Company's synth; and captain of the Nostromo, Dallas. Most of the time, I'm a 'take the toy out of the packaging' kind of guy, but in this case, I just don't think I can. I mean look at the card! Such a wonderful retro feel, even having the ReAction logo in the old Kenner style (which these toys are based on).
I don't think I'm missing out too much on not taking these out of their packaging as the blister card packaging makes it nice and easy to see the figure. The only thing that sucks is that I can't play with the xeno's little second mouth (not a euphemism) or pull Kane's helmet off (NOT A EUPHIMISIM).
It's not exactly a likeness to John Hurt there but that's not really the point with these guys. They have a deliberately retro look to them that I really love, and the xenomorph sculpt is excellent. The clear dome is removable and, as you can see, the evil brain glows in the dark!! There are a lot more of these ReAction figures coming out on the back of the success of these, including characters from Firefly, Pulp Fiction and The Nightmare Before Christmas to name but a few, so good luck if you're looking to collect the lot! Go Figure! Photos by Fezbongo, go check out his tumblr here!
