Lego Minifigures Series 13

Spotted this new wave in Asda and couldn't resist picking a few up. Looking at the packet I'd be happy with any of these guys, especially the goblin, future soldier guy, and the hot dog guy.

So this is who I got.

The carpenter/joiner

The paint on this guy is great, he has a little logo on his polo shirt, tool belt is painted neatly and his face has a cool grin and stubble.

Secondly I got the snake charmer

Pretty sad I didn't get the flute though!! The cobra is a really cool piece though and the snake charmer himself has a pimp 'stache. Also

Lastly I got the bad ass future soldier robot looking guy!

He comes with 2 guns and he even has storage for them on his back. He also has some cool insignia painted on him which is a nice touch.

Glad I picked these guys up... and I really think I need to find the hot dog guy.

EDIT!: I'm an idiot - the flute was under the snake charmer's stand!! Woo!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Metal Head

Firstly, I didn't buy this box all ripped like that. That was me in my excitement of finally getting Metalhead! I almost forgot to photograph him before tearing into the box!!

I've wanted Metalhead for a while. I remember the Metalhead from the original cartoon series and he was incredibly cool, and I love this guy just as much.

Metalhead comes with one accessory which is an energy blast moulded in a solid red plastic. This slots straight into his hand and through his arm. The "action" feature is you can flick the tail of the blast and fire it from Metalhead's hand.

I love this toy, it's so cool! Such a fun sculpt! I really like the new design of Metalhead and this toy nails that look.

He's mostly moulded in a grey plastic but has some yellow moulded details too. The sculpt is great, with his big chunky hands and feet, square head and (my personal favourite) the sewer lid shell! His sculpt also includes the Kraang insignia on the top of his head, wires, nuts & bolts, corrugated pieces of tubing and skull detailing in his knees.

The paint is minimal on Metalhead as the big colour blocks are grey and yellow. However the paint that's used is good. He has two signs on his arms that are really nicely done - these include a yellow arrow and a kind of "danger to skin" red triangle sign. His eyes are painted in as is his yellow "bandana" and he includes some paint to show the wiring in his torso which is also sculpted.

Metalhead's articulation is really what we've come to expect from Playmates non Turtle figures, that is, not too much. His head moves left and right and up down a little bit, his arms move back and forth and there's a swivel at his wrist. No waist articulation, his hips swivel and move back and forth a little, there is also an ankle swivel. For Metalhead though, I guess you don't need much in the way of articulation, and I certainly don't need any for my purposes of displaying him!

All in, I think this is a great figure and a really fun addition to my collection.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Casey Jones

Casey Jones is (probably...) my favourite non-mutant character in TMNT, though I'm still not too sure about him in the new show (though I've not seen enough of him yet). When I saw this in my local Toys R Us I knew I had to have him in my collection.

Casey comes with a few accessories, including his signature hockey mask, a baseball bat and a hockey stick.

I really like the mask. It's a nice sculpt and a really cool paint job. It clips nicely over Casey's face and stays on tightly.

The baseball bat and hockey stick are nicely sculpted but are sadly lacking paint and just come in a solid white plastic - I understand this is to keep costs down and keep the figures cheap, but it's quite a shame that the weapons look a little, well, cheap.

Casey himself is a nice looking figure, though I have a couple of things I'm not too happy with.

Firstly, his face minus the mask... I just...

Those eyes... And why did they paint his face? I know in the show he has his face painted too, but a normal face would have been better seeing as we get the mask. which is never coming off!

The second thing I don't really like about the figure - though they don't hinder the figure in any way - is the fact that his roller blades are sculpted onto his feet. He stands fine, I just think it's a bit of a weird choice.

Again, no adverse effects and the figure stands fine, and they look pretty cool, I just think it's a strange choice.

Casey, thankfully, does have storage for his weapons on his back, but again the holsters are sculpted in a solid white plastic looks a bit jarring compared to the rest of the figure.

The rest of the sculpt and paint on this figure is really nice and cartoon accurate, though the colours are mostly blacks and greys with some whites and browns thrown in.

The articulation on Casey is pretty good - a bit more than the standard for the non Turtles in the Playmates line. His head swivels, his arms move up and down, elbows bend and wrists swivel. His waist swivels, his legs move at the hips and his knees bend. He holds his weapons nicely, but his baseball bat doesn't stay that well in the storage sadly.

Even though this figure has it's flaws, it's still a great addition to my collection and I'm glad to have a new incarnation of Casey Jones in the new Nickelodeon cartoon!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles M.O.U.S.E.R.S Bonus 7 Pack

I've been looking at picking this pack up for a while but the Mousers have evaded me for a while. But finally, while walking through Asda one afternoon, I spotted them for a little under £10, so I swooped!

This little set is great. It comes with three silver mousers, 2 dark silver and 2 black mousers. They're all the same sculpt and have the same paint apps. They have small red eyes and some small red paint apps inside their mouths. The sculpts are really nice though, they have great little feet and teeth, and there are even sculpted details inside the mousers mouths which is great as you can open all of their jaws.

The articulation is minimal but it's all that's needed: the jaws open and can be left open a little or fully, the heads are on a ball joint so they can be swivelled, and the legs move back and forth.

They're in really nice scale to the basic TMNT figures currently available and will look very cool in your collection.

If you can get these guys for a reasonable price (I've seen these sell online for some silly prices), then I'd recommend them. They're a lot of fun and look great.

Star Wars Black Series #12 Anakin Skywalker

I don't like Anakin in the prequels. I don't think many people do to be honest. But he's a much better and more likeable character in The Clone Wars cartoons and that's one of the reasons why I bought Anakin to add to my collection. The other reason is because it didn't seem right having Obi-Wan from the prequels and not Anakin.

Skywalker senior comes with 2 accessories: his lightsaber and an alternate head with red eyes, to show when he fell to the Dark Side.

Personally I prefer Jedi Anakin's head over the Sith one. The hair sculpt just doesn't work for me on the Sith head.

The rest of the sculpt is good though, with the same sculpted robes as we've seen on Obi-Wan. Anakin has darker robes, all blacks and dark browns, with some silver and gold highlights. He also has his cyborg right hand which is nicely sculpted.

Anakin has the same articulation as the other 6" Black Series figures. His head moves back and forth (but not too far back due to his hair), and left and right. His shoulders move up and down, back and forward, there's an elbow bend and wrist swivel. There's an ab swivel and crunch, hips move out a little, and back and forth and there's a thigh cut. there's a double knee bend and ankle pivot, swivel and bend.

Just like Obi-Wan I was able to pick up a robe for Anakin in a dark brown which looks great and really adds some character to this figure.

I'm glad to have Anakin beside Obi-Wan in my collection - especially now that we're getting more Clone Troopers to back up the Jedi generals!

Star Wars Black Series #10 Obi-Wan Kenobi

I'm not a big fan of the Star Wars prequels but Obi-Wan is my favourite Jedi in the series so I was happy to pick this guy up from Amazon when it was VERY cheap. I'm talking sub £8 cheap.

Obi-Wan only comes with one accessory, which is his blue bladed lightsaber. It's a nicely sculpted piece with neat paint apps. The blade can also be removed from the hilt so that the hilt can be attached to Obi-Wan's belt.

Obi-Wan is a nice looking figure, with nicely sculpted robes - the robes have a nice wool looking texture to them and a nice light brown dry brush that brings out that detail. The skirt part of the robe is a soft rubbery plastic over a soft goods skirt - like we've seen with Darth Maul before.

The paint apps are nice and near over this figure, the eyes are neat and the beard and hair have a nice dark wash to bring out the details, but he also has the distinct white flashes of hair at the side of his head.

There are browns for his boots, belt and under shirt (that you can see under his chin).

There are darker browns and silvers on his belt, that also has sculpted pouches which look really nice.

Overall I think this is a really nice sculpt and quite a good likeness of Obi-Wan.

The articulation is what we've come to expect from the 6" black series figures. The head is on hinge and ball joint so it can look up and down and left and right, his shoulders move up, down, back and forward. Hi elbows bend and his wrists swivel.

Obi-Wan has an ab swivel and crunch, his legs move forward and back and outward a little, a thigh cut, a double jointed knee, and ankle articulation.

I did think something was missing though, and that thing, was a Jedi robe. Thankfully, this is where eBay comes into play.

I really like the robe on this figure. I think it adds a lot to this figure and really, for the price of these figures normally, a robe is something that should have been included originally.

Stay tuned for more toy reviews coming up, including more Black Series figures, Batman, Turtles, and more!
