Revoltech Iron Man MK VII
I ordered this online a couple of months ago, but since I decided to look at horror stuff through the month of October I've got some catching up to do!!
So Revoltech do highly detailed and articulated figures and if you want one in the UK, you'll probably need to look at ordering online as these are mostly imports.
Iron Man comes with several accessories, including a stand and a name plaque, that mentions what movie this armour was used in. I really wish the stand was better though. All this does is keep Iron Man standing. That's it. No flight poses, and you can't really get any running stances.
Two kinds of repulsor blasts, one with a longer blast and one shorter, made in a nice partially transparent orange plastic
As well as closed fists he also comes with one set of open hands, and another set of flat hands with holes for the repulsor blasts
And finally a small orange box to keep all of the accessories in
Taking Iron Man out of the packaging he was covered in plastic over and in between his joints. I had to take him apart just to get the plastic off.
That was frustrating, but at least it kept the figure in nice condition and made sure that the metallic paint didn't scuff. It also meant that I got a pretty hands on look at the Revoltech joints.
This is a great looking figure and I'm glad I could add him to my collection and my growing Avengers team. Though honestly, I kind of wish I'd held off and picked up the Figma version, or maybe even the upcoming Figuarts version. Throughout this write up it will probably become apparent why. But like I said, this is a pretty great figure.
The great metallic shiny paint really makes this figure look like Iron Man armour, though I wish the arc reactor in his chest was more than just a white circle. I would have thought that it would be as well, considering the rest of the figure is so nicely painted and detailed. Iron Man is mostly a brilliant metallic red, with metallic gold and silver highlights.
The articulation on Iron Man is really very good, but for me, it's lacking a few very important points.
His head is on a peg so moves up and down and left and right nicely. His shoulder pads are articulated so that when moving his shoulders up there's no hindrance. His shoulders move up, forward and back, his elbows swivel and bend right in and his wrists swivel and bend. He's got a diaphragm crunch, his hips move his legs forward and back a little and for me, this is where the articulation falls down. I really do wish that the hips moved outwards so that we could get him in crouched poses.
The knees bend right in and his ankles move back and forth with the aid of small flaps that are also articulated around his feet, meaning the feet can move more and still sit nicely in the armour.
Iron Man also has two flaps on his back that open for air brakes. Sadly, no flight stand like I mentioned earlier, so they don't really have any fun posing possibilities.
So because of some of the limitations in the hips and because of the lack of flight stand, this figure is pretty limited in his poses. But the poses that you can get him in are classic Iron Man and the metallic paint make this guy look brilliant.
Like I said the main falling down points are a couple of missed points of articulation and the lack of a much needed flight stand. But over all, I like this guy a lot. I wanted to pick up a good looking Iron Man for a while, for the simple reason that Iron Man is such a great looking design I didn't want to go for one of the Marvel Select or Legends figures, even though some of those do look really nice. I really wanted one I could pose more and had that really nice metallic shine to it.
Also, the arc reactor has to be circular. None of this triangular nonsense.
I would recommend this figure. It's an excellent representation of the Mark VII suit from The Avengers and it is a nice looking piece to have on your toy shelf. It's also a more palatable price point than the Figma version - about half of that price - and it'll probably end up being cheaper than the Figuarts version that is due for release.

Funko Sci-Fi Mystery Minis
I pre-ordered these months ago, and they finally arrived! I love the Funko mystery minis, they're great little figures.
So this series of mystery minis are all sci-fi themed filled with a plethora of characters. In total there are 17 figures and 13 characters.
The characters available are: Xenomorph (both normal and metallic), Predator (normal, bloody, and "invisible" clear versions), ET, Captain Mal, Jayne, Robby the Robot, Tron (normal and glow in the dark), Spock, Robocop, The Rocketeer, Judge Dredd, Mars Attacks Martian, and Metaluna Mutant.
Out of these figures I really wanted: either of the xenomorphs, any of the predators, Captain Mal, Jayne, Robocop and Judge Dredd. But to be fair, I like these figures so much that any would suffice.
So let's take a look
The figures are a little less glamorous when they're out of the boxes and just left in their blind black bags.
Anyway, I ripped the first one open and found...
Glow in the dark Tron! Great looking mini fig, brilliant colour. Really captures the look of the movie character and even includes the throwing disc.
Second figure I got was probably one of the figures I wanted the least... Look I'm a Wars guy.
But don't get me wrong, this is another great looking figure with really neat paint. And it's fun that Spock comes with the weapon that he fought Kirk with in that one episode... I'm sorry, don't judge me.
And lastly I got one of the figures I really did want!
Murphy!! The real proper Robocop! (Not a fan of the Robocop re-make, I won't get into it) but this guy, is great!
Amazing sculpt, likeness and paint. Just great. Love this guy.
Like all the Funko mystery minis, these don't have any articulation, but when the mini figs look this good, articulation isn't needed.
I'd really recommend these if you're a fan of sci-fi or just the Funko mystery minis in general. Great stuff.

NECA Alien Xenomorph
The last NECA xeno I looked at had it's faults. This guy though? So much better!
This xeno is based on the first Alien from... Well, Alien. With the translucent dome on his head, and amazing shine, almost slimy look to him.
The articulation is great, but the details are what make this figure really stand up as a great looking xeno.
Like I said, this xenomorph's articulation is pretty great. Head moves up and down and side to side, shoulders move up and down - but not out. There's a bicep swivel, a ball and hinge in the elbow, and in the wrist. There's an ab crunch that swivels too, hips go back and forth, double bend in the knee, ankle swivel and toe bend. And let's not forget the tail! The tail is about 8" and has a bendy wire in it so that you can pose it and use it to help keep the xeno stood up if necessary.
But look at those details! That's what makes this, in my opinion, probably the most affordable definitive version of the original xenomorph.
The shine to the black paint and silver on the teeth and nails is gorgeous, really giving this thing a feeling of life. The xeno has the long head, five fins on it's back, long tail and gangly appearance. All the little details are there too. The jaw opens letting the inner mouth jut out on it's own, there are small ridges running down his chest accenting the exterior ribs, there are small tubes, that are separate pieces, running from jaw to shoulder, small spikes on the elbows... I could go on. Seriously, the detailing in this figure, highlighted by that great paint application make this a real winner for me!
I think I'll be looking to add to my Alien collection, the Neca stuff really is top notch (for the most part!).

Why not check out the guy who took the pictures? He's called Fezbongo and he's a grade A top dude.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Movie The Shredder
You'd be forgiven for thinking that in the latest TMNT movie that Shredder is a cyborg. But no, he's a guy in a suit. Some random Japanese man. Really I've no idea who the guy was or why he had such a beef with the Turtles.
Never mind though, this is the figure we're looking at.
The Shredder.
So The Shredder has the "look" of Shredder: the cape, the helmet, the claws. Sadly, no real colour, just silver grey with some flesh tones. Lots of detail in the armour though.
The Shredder's articulation isn't too bad. His head spins right round, his shoulders move up and down and even though his armour does move a little to accommodate this, his shoulders still don't move up all that much. His elbows bend, his waist swivels, his hips bend and swivel, knees bend, and his ankles go up and down. Actually The Shredder might actually have more articulation that the Turtles...
His cape is a soft rubbery material and is removable, but really there's very little point in taking it off.
The only reason I wanted this figure was so that my Turtles had their enemy! Not sure why he has holding hands though - he doesn't come with any weapons!
I haven't bothered picking up the April or Splinter figures as, for me, they look terrible. And the Foot Soldier is just a soldier - why isn't he a ninja?! So that's the end of my TMNT 2014 figures. From now on I'll be sticking to the new TMNT cartoon and the older stuff - that goes for toys too!
Go Figure!
